Local Dialogue LLP were appointed by the Crystal Palace Park masterplanning team (Latz und Partner, the London Development Agency, London Borough of Bromley, Park Working Group members and English Heritage) to carry out wider consultation that will feed into the new design for revitalising the Park.

An essential part of the process has been to engage with members of the public who had not taken part in earlier consultations. These groups included young people, older people, ethnic minorities, faith groups and disabled groups.

The public consultation process has had four stages:

Introduction (October to December 2006)

This phase saw the introduction of the masterplan to a wider range of stakeholders, especially traditionally under represented groups such as black, asian and minority ethnic (BAME) communities, young people and older people, as well as the wider public.

Engagement (January to June 2007)

This was a key phase of the programme providing a series of public workshops looking at significant masterplanning issues from sports facilities, traffic, sustainability, through to project funding and viability.  There was also a programme of targeted activity aimed at groups who may not otherwise have been involved in these events by proactively engaging them in the design and planning process. This ensured that their views and ideas were fed directly into the masterplanning process.

Design explanation (June to mid summer 2007)

As the proposals for the Park became firmer, there was be a series of activities related consultation events in the Park, on local estates and high streets. These will be aimed at explaining the masterplan and gathering views on the final range of designs.  After completing this phase, final alterations to the design were made as required before the exhibition and the ouitline masterplan planning application was submitted.

Feedback (mid summer to autumn 2007)

The last stage of the consultation took place over the summer with a public exhibition of the draft masterplan 18 - 31 October at the Old Booking Hall at Crystal Palace Station and a programme of activities and events explaining the proposals in detail.
