Swimming gala and World Karate Championships were due to take place in the NSC. LDA are liaising with GLL to try and find alternative locations for these important events. In the interest of public safety, the NSC will not reopen at present. However, it may be possible to open some parts of the building if the asbestos can be contained, but the other parts will remain closed until June 2008. VL & SG are to have another meeting later on today to discuss. On a positive note, now that the NSC is completely closed, the major intrusive survey works can now take place (which would have required a 3 day shut down anyway).
