The London Development Agency (LDA) believes that effective consultation which genuinely engages with local communities and stakeholders is the cornerstone of good planning.

The LDA has worked with a range of local stakeholders including local authorities, councillors, community groups and members of the public to develop and promote the regeneration of Crystal Palace Park. Local and national groups have worked and will continue to work closely with the LDA and the masterplanning team through the long standing dialogue process, originally established by Bromley Council. Through the wider engagement programme that addresses the general public, the LDA aims to ensure that every member of the community has their voice heard.

Consultation on the masterplan has consisted of two complementary processes:

1. The Dialogue process, which has been running since 2002 and,
2. A wider community consultation programme that has run since September 2006.

Consultation highlights

• Distribution of over 400,000 copies of a regular newsletter (ParkNews) door-to-door and 40,000 by post to stakeholders
• more than six thousand visitors to public workshops and other audience-specific and weekend events
• over three hundred attendees at thirteen different workshops for BAME groups
• distribution of around 1,000 information packs at Christmas roadshows
• an average of around one thousand unique visitors to the website every month since its launch
• school visits involving over three thousand children and 250 of their parents.
