Meet the Monsters – Family Tour

Join palaeontologist Dr Cassius Morrison for a family-friendly guided walk around the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs this Halloween.
Autumn half-term

Meet the ‘monsters’, as the Dinosaurs were originally known, and discover the fascinating stories behind these famous sculptures. Starting at the Hylaeosaurus Head, near Crystal Palace Park Farm, the walk will explore how Crystal Palace Park became the global birthplace of DinoMania in the 1850s.

Along the way, we’ll look at questions including:

  • Did seasons exist during the Age of the Dinosaurs?
  • How did the bitter winters and onset of the autumn leaves immortalise the world of the dinosaurs?

With the recent restoration of the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs now complete, this is a chance to see them with fresh eyes and learn about their history, scientific importance and the changing nature of palaeontology.

Dr Morrison will also explore what the fossil record can tell us about biodiversity and extinction, and how understanding the past can help us protect the natural world today.
